Empowering Education through Scholarships
Overview: The BEST Scholarship Fund supports students financially in pursuit of a college degree at the University of Texas. 100% of the BEST Scholarship Fund supports the BEST Scholarship Program.
The BEST Scholarship Program has multiple outlets to directly assist students.

In the Fall of 2003, BEST awarded its first two scholarships to Ebony Moore and Christina Minnifee. Since that time BEST has distributed over $70,000 in scholarship funds.
Building the Future: Student Recruitment Initiatives
BEST coordinates support for potential and current students. This is accomplished through recruitment efforts across the country as well as programs on campus. Campus activities include student welcome events, retention programs, and student organization programming.
BEST also coordinates with the student Black Homecoming Committee to host the annual UT Black Homecoming Weekend. BEST has hosted a student mentoring event for many years on Thursday, including a panel discussion and laptop scholarship distribution.
Our efforts have become more impactful in light of the State Law SB 17 impacting funding and staffing for various programs on campus.
Objective:
Increase African-American/Black student enrollment at The University of Texas at Austin.
Activities:
Participation in recruitment programs and events.
Collaboration with the Admissions Office for recruiting efforts.
Engagement in the Longhorn Connections Program.

Community Service
We are proud to serve in the communities where we live and work. Service projects are organized by different chapters. We also organize to coordinate days of service for everyone to participate in on the same day.
